Tarot Basics

Hey wanna learn how to make sound decisions (aka intuition) and communicate directly to your soul? Tarot (tear-row) is one of my favorite tools. It's a deck of 78 wonderfully witchy cards with deep symbolism that can help answer your life's conundrums. It works because your soul speaks from a subconscious level that is mainly visual.

All you need to do is get your hands on a deck. The Rider-Waite is most popular, but there are many others to suit any vibe that speaks to you. The key is to simply begin doing your own readings. Follow the step-by-step below to draw 1 card. It may feel strange at first, but over time, you will develop skill. I've been going over 5 years and just now started to feel intuitive messages from the cards on first glance. A more advanced reading will include 3 cards or more because you'll be reading them like a language, in sentence form! You can enjoy a lifetime learning from these cards, as each aligns with different astrology signs and numerology, you can go deep into the meanings.

PREPARATION:

1. Holding your cards in hand, take a deep breath and imagine you are standing at the center of the universe, and golden light fills up your entire being. The exhale surrounds your whole body in a golden orb of protection while you ask for guidance on a specific topic or general advice for the day.

2. While gently shuffling the cards, become open to the insight that will best assist you to bring your light to the world today in the most loving and useful way.

3. Take another deep breath, spread the cards, and let your hands float over the cards until you feel the one that is “right” for you.  Pull it out, keeping in mind what you initially wanted to ask the cards about.

4. Flip it over and read the meaning below. Feel into the answer and write down your immediate thoughts, do not question or second-guess. Meditate on your answer!

**When a card flips over upside down, look to the "reversed" meaning after the "/"
